We encourage pastors and contribute to longevity in faithful ministry.
Remote Coaching & Counseling
Friendly Coaching is available to listen to what a pastor is trying to do and the challenges that stand in the way of success. We are a sounding board, offering ideas to help a pastor lead with courage, conviction, and endurance. We are constantly sharpening our skills to provide the resources and encouragement that will inspire pastors to thrive in their current ministry roles.
Coaching and counseling utilize video calling.
Biblical counseling is often something pastors provide for others, but they sometimes appreciate having someone to help them process what they are thinking, feeling, and doing. As a pastor, you know the Scripture. We want to come along side you in life and ministry to help you apply God’s Word surgically to the areas of your own life that frequently disrupt your peace and steal your joy.
In-person sessions are available in the Kalamazoo area.
Our Goals
To provide accessible and affordable coaching to pastors in all areas of pastoral ministry
To provide convenient biblical counseling free of charge to pastors and their households
To encourage more godly men to enjoy pastoral ministry longer through meaningful friendship
Meeting options
We can bring counseling to you using video-call technology.
In-person sessions are available at Northeastern Baptist Church in Kalamazoo.
The Process
Step One: Your first point of contact will be with our founder and director, Nathan Pierpont. He can field any questions you have and determine whether he can help you directly or whether you would receive better assistance from another pastor who has expressed a willingness to be part of our network of coaches and counselors.
Step Two: Nathan will provide you with an electronic coaching application or a personal data inventory (PDI) in preparation for scheduling a counseling session.
Step Three: When you return the application or PDI, we will set up an initial meeting via video call (or in person in Kalamazoo).
For those who wish to proceed after the intial meeting, we recommend scheduling two one-hour sessions per month for followup coaching/counseling.
You can expect to reach definable goals before discontinuing counseling. You will not be asked to pay for sessions. If our coaching has helped, consider recommending to your church a one-time gift of appreciation to the pastoral coaching and counseling ministry of Shepherd’s Friend.
Cost: You will not be asked to pay anything for coaching or counseling. Our ministry partners wish to make this service available to you at no cost. If Nathan or other counselors associated with SF are helpful to you, consider becoming a ministry partner with a scheduled or one-time gift.
